Meeting Charlotte, Jason, and their little lad for their engagement shoot at Northicote Farm was the kind of morning that quietly reminds you why you love what you do. Sure, it was early April and spring hadn’t quite found the confidence to show its face yet, but it was dry, which in itself feels like a small miracle in this part of the world.
Northicote has a sort of rustic magic to it, doesn’t it? Even with bare branches and that end-of-winter chill still hanging in the air, the place has this gentle charm. Quiet fields, soft light, and space to breathe. It’s a cracking spot for photos, especially when you’ve got a couple as effortlessly warm as these two.
Charlotte and Jason were total naturals. Laid-back, game for a bit of fun, and clearly smitten with each other (which always helps). And their son? Stealing the show like it was his job. He brought such a sweet, cheeky energy to the session, and we couldn’t resist sneaking in a few extra snaps just for Mum, especially seeing as it was Mother's Day morning. Because let’s face it, there’s no better gift than a frame-worthy photo of your favourite people being their lovely, slightly chaotic selves.
What I loved most was how calm and unforced it all felt. No awkward posing or trying to be something they're not. Just genuine connection, a bit of laughter, and a few quiet moments shared between three people who clearly adore each other.
And now? I genuinely can’t wait for the wedding later this month. If the morning at Northicote was anything to go by, it’s going to be full of love, laughter, and hopefully just a little bit more spring in the air. But even if the flowers still haven’t got the memo, I know it’ll be a day worth remembering.
Here’s to dry days, happy hearts, and the countdown to “I do.”
